Last year, I posted thoughts about the movie version of The Fellowship of the Ring to this book log. I’m not doing that this year, but if anyone’s curious, I wrote a series of posts to rec.arts.sf.fandom: Things I Hated, Things I Loved, and Things I Am Looking Forward To.
Actual book logging will resume shortly, I hope.
Most of my “argh!” reactions I was able to ignore on second viewing, but the part that had me still banging my head on the chair was the whole Osgiliath bit. Not just the massacring of Faramir’s character, but that whole “here, Winged Rider! Have a nice Ring!” bit — visually breathtaking, and utterly WRONG.
Wizard-fu. Good way of putting it.

I got the term wizard-fu from Fred Herman, I believe. *googles* Yup, from Fred, via a Usenet post from PNH. (Fred, if you’re out there, remind me to buy you a drink at Boskone for coining such a useful term…)
